New York is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around New York is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

When I first learned about this place. I fell in love with the story and history behind this place. They started out more than 100 years ago during the great depression. It was a shoe and hat repair shop that had a small cart outside that sold candy to the neighborhood kids. When the great depression hit, the candy sales started bringing in more business and well, Economy Candy was born. They have a huge selection of candy. Everything from New candy to old classics that alot of people say you can't find anywhere else. They are definitely worth checking out.

Candy you loved as a kid fills shelves floor to ceiling. Plus legit Swedish Fish from Sweden. I got bags of every flavor for my brother-in-law as a gift. He tasted each one and picked his favorite. If you have children or friends open to nostalgic experiences bring them to EC or get them a special surprise from the countless options! They will LOVE you for it! Say hi to the cashier Sophie for me. She is a sweetie. - Barbara

This candy store has everything! I was visiting from Chicago and told my friend that I wanted the classic flat taffy. She immediately knew where to go and recommended this store. It was busy when I entered so I browsed on my own and eventually found the taffy on the bottom shelf of a table. At check out, I was asked if I wanted to buy the whole box or just a few - of course I bought the box. I didn't realize they were for individual sale, but I wanted the whole box. They have good prices and a variety of items to choose from. Highly recommend!

This place is really fun and interesting to visit. It definitely brings you back to the time when you were little. They also carry a lot of different candies and snacks that you probably canβt find anywhere else. They had German Haribo, and I bought the yogurt flavor β it was really good! We ended up purchasing a bunch of random new things weβve never seen before, like Yoohoo chocolate and Sriracha chocolate. I actually liked the Yoohoo one a lot, probably one of my favorites. The Sriracha chocolate does have a spicy kick, but just a little. Iβd suggest getting a less dark chocolate version if you canβt really handle the bitterness of 70% dark chocolate. It is pretty pricey here, but honestly I understand why since they carry a lot of imported and unique stuff. Also, their tote bag is super cheap β I think just a few cents more and you can get one. Definitely worth buying since you also get a cute souvenir for your trip.

βThis place is dangerous!β is what a lady coming out of the store with a bag full of candy told us on our way in. And she was totally right. I had a visitor from Japan who loves Haribo and was looking for the Ginger Lemon flavor, which apparently is only produced in Germany. So we searched online and came across Economy Candy. Considering itβs been around since 1937, I donβt know how Iβd never been here before. It is such a fun store! Itβs not large, but has floor-to-ceiling shelves and you are surrounded by chocolates and candy. Itβs a childβs dream (and possibly for adults, too). I canβt wait to go back again!
